Substance Designer Explorations
Personal Portfolio Work / Summer ‘16 - Spring ‘19
I spend a lot of time working in Substance Designer as a hobby. My background is in game design and 3D art so I keep my skills polished as much as I can.
Substance Designer is an industry-standard procedural material authoring tool. Using a node-based workflow, patterns can be created and edited in real time. The software then generates bitmaps that can be fed into a rendering engine or game engine to create photo-realistic materials. All objects shown below are flat cylinders with procedural maps applied.
Each one of these materials was intended as an attempt to recreate a photo reference.
Tools: Substance Designer, Maya, Photoshop
Rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3.
